On December 7th, 2021, Amazon announced the arrival of Alexa Together, a brand new service that helps older adults enjoy a higher degree of independence. The service builds upon Care Hub, which launched back in 2020.

Alexa Together

According to Amazon, Alexa Together is helpful for aging customers to feel more comfortable and capable of living independently. Additionally, this gives family members peace of mind.

What is Alexa Together

Alexa Together is a subscription service designed to support older adults in their independent lifestyles. It includes the features from Care Hub that customers love, an activity feed, care alerts, and a connection option to stay in touch with others, but with added features.

An Alexa Together connection is made when a customer and caregiver sign up to the service. The aging individual needs nothing else. They can simply go about their day with reassurance that the program is there when they need it.

Features of Alexa Together

Alexa Together has a load of voice-activated features. They require an Echo, Echo Dot, or Echo Show for enabling. Highlights include Fall Detection Response and Urgent Response.

Urgent Response

Get 24/7 access to an emergency helpline professional. During an emergency, you can say:

“Alexa, call for help.”

This will connect you to a trained agent who can request dispatch of the fire department, the police, or an ambulance. Alexa will notify the designated caregiver.

Fall Detection

Alexa Together works alongside third-party devices that can detect when a customer has fallen or needs help. Vayyar Care is one such device that is a contactless wall mount sensor that identifies when someone has fallen and SkyAngleCare by ATS is a pendant that detects falls as well.

Activity Feed and Alerts

These features help reassure caregivers that their care recipient is active throughout the day. This also gives the care recipient peace of mind knowing that their caregiver is connected and keeping an eye on them.

Remote Assist

Remote Assist is a feature that you can choose to enable in order to allow caregivers to set reminders, add contacts, add items to shopping lists, and even link to a music service.

If you are looking for aging well alternatives to maintain your independence, the Alexa Together might be the right fit for your lifestyle.
